New CEO takes reigns at Trends Research Institute, Trends Journal

KINGSTON, NY - Derek Osenenko, a veteran senior media executive, has been named Chief Executive Officer of the Trends Research Institute, the trends forecasting and research think tank founded by Gerald Celente.

Osenenko comes to the Trends Research Institute from the Times Herald-Record and Hudson Valley Media Group based in Middletown, NY, where he has been executive editor since August 2007. Before returning to the Hudson Valley, Osenenko held four executive editor positions with the Gannett Company. He ended his 20-year career with the media giant as the top editor of Gannett News Service.

"There is no one I could possibly imagine being better equipped to broaden the goals and fulfill the objectives of the institute than Derek," said Celente. "His professional credentials during almost 35 years in the news publishing business are impeccable. He brings unique skills and exceptional creative talents. I have no doubt he will take the many facets of our operation to the next level."

Celente said his new CEO has a strong track record as a strategic leader who knows how to define and act on innovation. "The institute has ambitious goals to extend our strong international audience base," Celente added. "There are few better than Derek at plotting the strategic steps needed to meet our goals."

In his new position, Osenenko will oversee all operational and strategic aspects of the institute, including assuming the role of executive editor of the institute's prestigious quarterly Trends Journal. The journal, available in both high-quality magazine and digital formats, provides in-depth analysis of emerging global trends, while the institute's primary website, Trendsresearch.com, covers trends across a range of multimedia platforms.

"This is a great opportunity for me - one that comes around only once," said Osenenko. "The institute and Trends Journal have an impressive record of providing content and services that are unique and essential. I am confident I can extend the reach of the institute's broad base and build on its rich traditions."

The Kingston, NY-based Trends Research Institute's team of analysts provide ongoing forecasts across a wide range of topics, from global economics to geopolitics, from health and education to pop culture and more. In addition to the subscriber-supported content Celente and his team produce, the institute provides a number of services, including consulting, customized trends forecasting for organizations and industries, symposiums and keynote addresses.

"In just the last year, we have completely redesigned and expanded our Trends Journal, launched a brand new website and added layers of new content and services to our subscription packages," said Celente. "With Derek now at the helm, the institute is poised to reach new heights."

Celente, a pioneer trend strategist, founded the Trends Research Institute in 1980. He is the author of the national bestseller Trends 2000 and Trend Tracking: Far Better than Megatrends (Warner Books), and publisher of the internationally distributed quarterly Trends Journal.
